What Is NAD+?
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme found in every living cell and is essential for life. It serves as a critical electron carrier in cellular energy metabolism and as a substrate for key enzymes involved in DNA repair, gene expression, and cellular stress responses. NAD+ levels decline dramatically with age — by as much as 50% between ages 40 and 60 — and this decline is now recognized as a central driver of the aging process and age-related disease.

NAD+ itself is poorly absorbed orally. Precursors are used instead: NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) and NR (nicotinamide riboside) are the most studied and effective. Typical doses: 250–500mg NMN or NR daily, taken in the morning (NAD+ supports circadian rhythm). Sublingual or liposomal NMN may offer superior absorption. Combining with apigenin or quercetin (CD38 inhibitors) can further raise NAD+ levels.
