Antiparasitic Botanicals

Black Walnut Hull (Juglans nigra)

Key Compound: Juglone (5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone)

Mechanism: Juglone disrupts oxidative phosphorylation in parasitic organisms, inhibits ATP production, and demonstrates broad-spectrum activity against protozoa, helminths, and fungal organisms. Also acts as a natural iodine carrier.

Applications: Intestinal parasites (Giardia, Blastocystis), fungal overgrowth (Candida), skin parasites, biofilm disruption support.

Cautions: Thujone content requires caution — avoid in epilepsy, kidney disease, pregnancy. Low-thujone extracts preferred for longer protocols.

Clove (Syzygium aromaticum)

Key Compound: Eugenol, acetyl eugenol, caryophyllene

Mechanism: Eugenol penetrates and destroys parasite eggs and larvae — completing the lifecycle disruption that wormwood and black walnut initiate. Also demonstrates broad antimicrobial, antifungal, and antibiofilm activity.

Applications: Parasite egg/larvae destruction, H. pylori support, Candida, dental/oral pathogens, food-borne pathogens.

Dosing: Capsule: 500–1,000 mg 2–3× daily. Essential oil (internal): 1–2 drops in capsule or carrier oil 1–2× daily (short term only).

Cycling: Match to antiparasitic protocol cycle. Essential oil use: max 2 weeks continuous.

Cautions: Anticoagulant effect — use caution with blood thinners. High-dose essential oil is hepatotoxic; avoid in liver disease.

Pau d'Arco (Tabebuia impetiginosa)

Key Compound: Lapachol, beta-lapachone, xyloidone

Mechanism: Naphthoquinones interfere with parasite and fungal electron transport chains, inhibit topoisomerase II in pathogens, and generate controlled oxidative stress selectively toxic to pathogens. Beta-lapachone has demonstrated activity against Chagas disease, malaria, and Leishmaniasis organisms.

Cycling: 2–4 weeks on / 1–2 weeks off. Rotate with other antimicrobials to prevent adaptation.
